How does it work without a battery?
The NFC chip in your phone puts out a small electromagnetic field. Cherikey harvests that field for the couple of seconds it takes to redraw the screen, then goes completely dead — and e-ink holds its last image with no power at all.
What do the photos look like on e-ink?
Your photo appears on a colourful e-ink display. The app converts it automatically — the result reads like a fine screen print. Portraits, pets and bold artwork look particularly good.
